The Australian Stuff Series is a writing project designed to bridge the gap between American and Australian values, kind of. Well, not really. It’s more of a sarcastic commentary on the things I have observed as an American adjusting to life in Australia.
For the purpose of this series, I’m going to consider myself a full-blown expert on American and Australian relations. I’m going to use generalizations and stereotypes and I’ll definitely exaggerate, but I’ll also try to keep it real to give you a nice balance of facts and feelings.
In short …
You should read this series IF:
- You are a human with general interests that include Australia and America
- You are an American who associates Outback Steakhouse with Australia
- You are an Australian who has little to no idea what Outback Steakhouse is
You might enjoy this series IF:
- You are a human with a sense of humor
You might be offended by this series IF:
- You are easily offended
- You are an American who has “always wanted to visit Australia” but doesn’t yet know about Qantas or whose impression of an Australian accent includes the phrase, “Grilled shrimp on the barbie, mate.â€
- You are an Australian who likes cricket, or who generally believes Americans are too loud, too opinionated or too uninformed (in which case, you’re an a-hole.)
On that note, I invite you to join me for the Australian Stuff Series (ASS).Â
Get amongst it – starting … next week-ish!
